Give Claude Code Google search and live data

To give Claude Code Google search, add 1ToolRing as a remote MCP server with claude mcp add --transport http 1toolring https://mcp.1toolring.com/mcp, run /mcp in a session, select 1toolring and choose Authenticate. Once you select Allow in the browser, Claude can pull live Google results as JSON, keyword search volume, Google Maps places, Amazon products and exchange rates, and it sees each tool's price before it runs it. Calls are paid from a prepaid balance you top up from $1 by card or Rp10.000 by bank transfer, and a failed call costs nothing.

Set it up

  1. Add the server from your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http 1toolring https://mcp.1toolring.com/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code, run /mcp, select 1toolring, then Authenticate. Your browser opens the 1ToolRing approval page; choose the workspace and select Allow.
  3. Or sign in straight from the shell:
    claude mcp login 1toolring

Claude Code already has WebSearch. When does this help?

Claude Code comes with a built-in WebSearch tool. Anthropic's tools reference says it returns result titles and URLs from Anthropic's search backend, and Claude reads the pages afterwards with WebFetch. For looking up docs or an error message that is often enough, so keep using it.

The same page says the search backend can't be changed, and that the way to search with a different provider is to add an MCP server with a search tool. 1ToolRing is a server like that. It is worth adding when you want one of these:

  • The Google results page as structured JSON: rank, title, URL, snippet and parsed SERP features, for example to see where a page ranks for a keyword.
  • Google Ads search volume, CPC and competition for a list of keywords (see keyword research).
  • Places from Google Maps, Amazon products with prices and ratings, or daily exchange rates.
  • A known price for every call, shown before the run and paid from one balance.

Sign in with an API key instead

For CI, scripts or a machine without a browser, create a key on the Keys page (it is shown once) and add the server with it as a Bearer header:

claude mcp add --transport http 1toolring https://mcp.1toolring.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"

Other ways to set it up

Paste this line into the agent's chat and it reads the setup guide, installs 1ToolRing and asks you to sign in:

set up 1ToolRing - https://1toolring.com/llms.txt

Or add 1toolring to every agent on this machine from a terminal (needs Node.js):

npx add-mcp https://mcp.1toolring.com/mcp -g

First prompt to try

Paste this into a new session. The agent should call discover_tools to find a Google search tool, inspect_tool to read its input and price, and then run_tool. You see the price before anything is spent.

Use 1toolring to get the top Google results for "standing desk" in the United States. Tell me which tool you will use and its price before you run it, then list the top 10 URLs with their rank.

What the calls cost

A few tools your agent is likely to pick. Discovering and inspecting tools is free; only a successful run is charged. How pricing works.

Prices as of 5 Nov 2026; the live price is always shown before a run.

Troubleshooting

"Authentication required" when Claude calls a 1toolring tool
That message comes from the 1ToolRing server: it needs you to sign in or send an API key. Run /mcp, select 1toolring, choose Authenticate and select Allow on the 1ToolRing page. From the shell, claude mcp login 1toolring does the same. If you would rather use a key, add the server with the Bearer header shown above.
claude mcp list shows "Needs authentication"
Same fix: claude mcp login 1toolring. Over SSH or on a machine without a browser, add --no-browser; Claude Code prints the sign-in URL, you open it on your own machine and paste the redirect URL back at the prompt.
It works in a session but not with claude -p
A claude -p run has no /mcp panel, so it can't start the sign-in. Sign in once from an interactive session or with claude mcp login 1toolring, then run it again.
The server is added but the agent does not see the tools
Most agents load a new MCP server only after a restart or in a new session. Start a new session and check again.
Tools answer 403 EARLY_ACCESS_PENDING
1ToolRing is in early access and new accounts are approved in batches. Sign-in works before approval, but tools, keys and top-ups stay locked until the approval email arrives. Nothing is charged for these calls.
A run fails with 402 INSUFFICIENT_BALANCE
The balance can't cover the price of that call. The error carries your balance, the amount needed and a top-up link. Top up any amount on the Billing page: from Rp10.000 by bank virtual account or Alfamart/Indomaret, or from $1 by card. The refused call costs nothing.
mcp.1toolring.com can't be reached (proxy 403, DNS failure, timeout)
That comes from the network policy of the environment the agent runs in, so retrying won't help. Run the agent on a machine with normal network access, or allowlist mcp.1toolring.com and api.1toolring.com on port 443.
